Charming Stories Told By Dolls (Beginning)
After worshipping Lord Shiva's feet on mount Kailasah, Goddess Parvathi said, "Swamy, tell me a story".
"O! Goddess, are there any stories you do not know?" I will tell you the stories about the throne of your boon Vikramarka, which was given to him by Indra and it was made up of precious gold and peacock feathers and consists of thirty two steps and each step has a doll (Salabhanjika) / statue / image on it.
The seven cities known as the place of salvation on the earth are: Ayodhya, Madhura, Haridwar, Kasi, Kanchi, Avanthika and Dwaraka. Another name for Avanthika is the Kingdom of "Ujjaini".It is mentioned in Skanda Purana that it has other names. They are kanakasrunga, Kushasthali, Padmavathi, Kumudwathi, Vyshali, and Dharapuri.
This Kingdom was ruled by king Bhojamaharaja,a man of all virtues and a great warrior. Since, wild animals are frequently attacked the villages in the outskirts of that kingdom. The people there complained to King Bhoja about their troubles while he was hunting animals in the forest with his retinue. In a short distance away, Bhoja saw a Brahmin chasing birds with a stick on a platform in a field. He went to that field along with his retinue to ask for water. Seeing, Bhojamaharaja and his entourage, the man on the platform said, "Please.......................................
